Still Life with a Convincing Sense of Space- Instructed byPeter Van Dyck

Graham Painting Studio is thrilled to have the masterful artist Petr Van Dyck teach two day workshop in West Chester. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity to absorb Peter’s artistic wisdom on perspective drawing, convincing light, color relationships and space.

Students will make still-life paintings from observation with an emphasis on light, color, structure, and pictorial design. We will discuss how to set up a still life and how to think about the practical and formal problems that it presents. We will discuss how to organize and simplify complex information, how to create a unified sense of light throughout the picture, and how to perceive color and tone relationships. We will also cover aspects of drawing that will help in the creation of a convincing sense of space

In-depth demos will take place during the morning followed by studio work with independent instruction working from still life.

The workshop will be held at Graham Painting Studio from 10am - 4pm both Saturday November 7th and Sunday November 8th.  Graham Painting Studio is located in the heart of West Chester Pa.  The address is 25 N Walnut St West Chester.  The studio is located on the second floor and there is no handicap access. Students will need to pay for parking in West Chester.  There are plenty of places within a short walk to the studio.  More details will be provided upon registration.

Cancellation Policy: If you have already registered for one of our workshops, and you are no longer able to attend, our cancellation policy is as follows:

• Full refund minus a $50 admin fee up to 30 days out of your scheduled workshop

• 50% refund after that up to 14 days out from the scheduled date

• No refund within 72 hours of workshop

Supply List:‍ ‍A more detailed supply will be shared via email when you register. In general, students will need brushes, oil paint, brush cleaner (odorless mineral spirits) a canvas or panel, a palette, paper towels/rag.

Please Note that there will be a lunch break. Students can bring their own food and eat in the studio. Or there are plenty of places to eat with in walking distance to the studio.
