Learn the fundamentals of portrait painting with a live model. This seven week class will be focused on proportions of the face, color mixing for flesh and learning a step by step method that leads to a successful portrait painting.

Week 1 - Drawing and learning proportions of the face. Randall will lecture and demonstrate. Students will do many charcoal drawings for warm up and practice.

Week 2 - Begin the portrait with a grisaille underpainting.

Weeks 3 - Add color layer on top of previous week’s grisaille

Weeks 4-6 - Continue to add paint and color to model the portrait.

Randall will paint along with students, demonstrate and critique through out the duration of the class. Students will have 20 hours to works from the same model and pose during this class. This prolonged observation will yield positive results and much knowledge will be gained.
